South Tyrolean farm winter with snowmen, skiing and toboggan fun

South Tyrolean farm winter with snowmen, skiing and toboggan fun

In the winter, the farm Unterplunerhof and the entire Pusteria Valley are covered in shimmering, soft snow. This means, however, by no means, that the fabulous holiday region around Chienes falls into hibernation – quite the contrary! A winter vacation on the farm is not only about outdoor activities, there is still much more! The cows and horses, chickens and cats of the farm must be fed, watered and cared for. On the farm Unterplunerhof, together with your family in the winter you can enjoy the everyday life on the farm. Your kids will be thrilled by not only new impressions and experiences on the farm in the winter, but also enjoy romping freely far off dangerous roads in the peaceful idyll of the farm Unterplunerhof. On sheer endless snowfields, they may organise snowball fights, build snowmen and enjoy great toboggan fun directly next to the farm! In the evening, the cosy apartments at the farm Unterplunerhof with the lovingly furnished eat-in kitchen offer relaxing hours and entertainment for the entire family.

Winter enthusiasts will have great fun in the surroundings of the farm Unterplunerhof. The holiday apartment in Chienes is located in the highlands of the Dolomites and in close proximity of the ski resort Plan de Corones, north of Brunico. About 120 kilometres of slopes are waiting for young and old, fast and slow, courageous and careful ski fans. There are six challenging downhill slopes, some of which are more than 6 kilometres long. You will particularly enjoy the stunning panoramic view on the alpine plateaus! Children may learn how to ski at the kids’ park and can romp freely in the snow at the “Cronicastle”. In the immediate vicinity of the holiday apartments in Chienes, there are 20 kilometres of cross-country trails, which also includes the stunning high-altitude track on the Alpe di Rodengo.

Even if you are not an avid skier, snowboarder or cross-country fan, you may enjoy the tranquillity of the winter in South Tyrol on beautiful winter walks or visit the region’s longest toboggan run in San Vigilio. The many winter hiking paths in the holiday region Plan de Corones will give you unforgettable memories to take home with you. Great destinations of winter hikes include the lovingly restored castle Schöneck in Chienes or the majestic castle Casteldarne in the village bearing the same name. Behind tall pine trees, it offers a wonderful vista, and the panoramic view from the castle over the snow-covered Pusteria Valley is simply marvellous.
